Travel in South Vietnam

Both times we traveled to Vietnam we began in the south, flying into Ho Chi Minh City. On our 2002 trip we drove to Dalat and then up the coast by jeep, into Central Vietnam, and on our 2006 trip we again drove to Dalat, but then went up through the Central Highlands. We definitely found South Vietnam to have a different feeling from the north. The people seemed a bit more open and friendly, although we also found people to be friendly in the north, and in November, the weather was significantly warmer along the coastal areas of South Vietnam, than in the Central Highlands and north.
