Travel in Central Vietnam
On our first trip to Vietnam we traveled along the central coast, and spent about a week in Hoi An and Hue. On our second trip, rather than traveling along the coast, we drove along the Truong Son mountain range in the Central Highlands, staying in Phuoc Son and Aluoi, and eventually crossing into Laos from Route 9 in Central Vietnam. The coastal areas of Vietnam are very different from the highlands, as the coastal region is primarily made up of ethnic Vietnamese, and the highlands are mostly populated by various hill tribe groups.
